DIGITAL MEDIA RELEASE
 B. Procedure
 
1. Orders may require up to 3-5 business days to process after payment is received.
 
2. When requesting digital media, an applicant shall complete the Records Request form.
 
3. The Records Section and/or the Digital Records and Video Release (DRVR) Team will check for any associated digital media in the department’s digital evidence repository. Once determined if there are any photos or video available, the requestor will be contacted via email to obtain payment.
 
a. Once payment is received, the request will be processed.
 
4. Records will complete all requests for digital media received from the district attorney’s office and other law enforcement agencies. All requests from law enforcement and the district attorney’s office will be released by Records via the department’s web-based system.
 
5. All public digital media requests will be forwarded to the DRVR Team for review. The DRVR Team will review all images and video and make any necessary redactions required by law prior to release. All public requests will be released by the DRVR Team via the department’s web-based system.
 
a. Images of an extreme graphic nature or any autopsy images will only be released to law enforcement or the District Attorney’s Office. Requests by others will be reviewed by the respective approving authority on a case by case basis.
 
6. After the images have been reviewed and necessary redactions have been made, Records and/or the DRVR Team will send a link to access the digital media via the department’s web-based system directly to the requestor. 
  
7. All digital media being released via the department’s web-based system will be disseminated in the records management system using the action log. A copy of the report request form will be attached in the action log entry. 

  
 C. Rule
 
1. All requests to obtain photographs or videography other than from the City Attorney's Office, the District Attorney's Office, or Lakewood Police personnel, shall be submitted on a Records Request form.
