Simple Notes - Tips for Use

Simple Notes are exactly that — simple.

They’re meant to guide, not explain your entire program.

Use them to provide quick direction to assessors:

Simple Notes can also briefly explain something that might otherwise prompt an unnecessary question. And I do mean briefly.

They are not a substitute for interviews. They are not a place to defend your proofs. And they are not required for every possible question an assessor might have.

If a quick sentence eliminates confusion and prevents an avoidable interview question — add it.
If it requires explanation beyond a sentence or two — save it for the interview and instead put who should be interviewed on the note.

When using Simple Notes:

Sometimes a Simple Note is the only attachment — especially when explaining non-applicability. That’s fine.

The goal isn’t more content.
The goal is smoother flow.

Simple Notes should support the assessment — not distract from it.

Another quick tip for Simple Notes: If you go to the root of your assessment (click on the name of your assessment to get there) and then the Attachments tab. In the field called "Attachment Type," choose Simple Note, then click Filter. This will show you all the Simple Notes attached across your assessment. Add the additional filter of Status as Not Applicable and you have a clean, downloadable list to share with assessors in your pre-read materials.
